Screen Printing - Special FX Inks

  • updated 5 mths ago

Special FX inks are a great way to add something different to your screen printing project. Here are some available options that we have.  Reach out to your CPM for more specific information about the color options available.

Note: Pre Production samples are required for all specialty inks.

Neon Inks

Neon inks are fun bright colors that are very popular but with screen printing neon inks are hard to replicate due to the light required to make artwork seem neon. Neon colors are PMS 801-807. We do have some neon colors available to print.

Always check with your CPM when wanting a neon color.

Here are some alternative PMS color options if Neon isn't available.

Metallic Inks

PMS 871-877 are metallic inks. Do not use PMS 87X colors. Either switch to an actual metallic (Gold/Silver) or a visually equivalent PMS swatch that’s not metallic.

Always check with your CPM when wanting a metallic color.

Here are some alternative PMS color options if metallic isn't available.

Glow Inks

Glow ink is only bright on light/pastel colors. Otherwise the “glowing" is dulled.

This is the glow ink on a white background.

The Glow-in-the-Dark ink is slightly visible when under normal light, but note how bright it is when placed under a UV or Black Light.

Glow Ink Bases

When placed on top of light colors, it is still bright, but you can also see the difference in brightness when compared to the ink on top of White.

Notice on this print how bright the line of text is at the bottom compared to the shapes printed on the grays and greens.

NOTE! If Using the Glow ink on top of darker colors like reds/pinks, proof the glow at about 30-50% depending on the color.

Foil

Foil is a great way to add some metallic effect to your design. Foil cannot be printed directly next to plastisol ink and requires a 1" - 1.5" border between the ink and foil.  Foil cannot be used with shimmer or metallic inks.

With Rainbow foil, colors can be both vertical or horizontal lines.

Puff Ink

Puff ink is a plastisol ink that has been modified with an additive that reacts to heat. The ink expands when exposed to high temperature heat as the garment is cured.  There is also  puff transfer available. stick

Crystalina Shimmer

Multi-color reflective flake is a clear ink that can work on it's own or on top of another color. Crystalina does create a texture on the print. Works best with solid fill areas and not recommended for halftones, blends or gradients.

Color Changing Inks

These inks are invisible when indoors but when you step out into the sun they show the color. The brighter the UV rays the brighter the print becomes. It is limited by color. The colors available are shown below.

HD Gel

It's a clear glossy ink that can create a tonal effect. This is a great option for Black on Black.
